Here is a common mistake: thinking that the biggest heater is always the best. It’s not. If you just buy the highest wattage you can find, you’re going to end up wasting money—or worse, feeling like you’re standing too close to a campfire. The secret is all about the room size. We use short-wave infrared lamps because they don’t bother trying to heat the air. They go straight for you. It’s a much smarter way to stay warm in a damp bathroom where traditional heaters usually just struggle. Finding your number So, how much power do you actually need? If you’ve got a tiny powder room (under 4m²), a single 400W to 600W lamp does the trick. It gets the room feeling cozy almost instantly. For something mid-sized (4m² to 8m²), go with a dual-lamp setup around 1000W to 1200W. Now, for those big master baths over 8m², you’re looking at 1500W or more. But be careful. If you go too low, the lamps stay on forever, which kills the filaments. Go too high? You’ll waste electricity and get that annoying “stinging” feeling on your skin. Nobody wants that while they’re brushing their teeth. The nerdy stuff (that actually matters) Our units use quartz glass tubes filled with halogen gas. We do this so the lamps can get really hot without the glass getting cloudy over time. If you ever need to swap one out, look for R7s or SK15 connectors. One quick warning: high wattage pulls a lot of power. Make sure your wiring and circuit breakers can actually handle it. Putting a 2000W array on thin wires is just asking for a fire. Not a great way to start the morning. Where to put it Placement is everything. Aim for 2.1 to 2.4 meters from the floor. If it’s higher, the heat vanishes before it reaches you. Too low, and you might actually damage your ceiling or wall materials. And please, keep the reflectors clean. It sounds simple, but a thin layer of dust on that mirror finish can kill your heat output by 15%. A quick wipe-down makes a huge difference.
