If a quartz tube shatters inside your vacuum chamber, you aren’t just dealing with a dead bulb. You’re dealing with glass shards and metal filaments flying everywhere, contaminating your wafers instantly. It’s a mess. And it’s expensive. Keeping the mess contained We use high-purity synthetic quartz because it can take the hit of rapid heating and cooling without cracking. But we don’t stop there. We add a protective sleeve or a specialized containment mesh. Think of it as a safety net. The balancing act of heat Here’s the thing about high-density heating: it’s all about balance. You need plenty of power, but you can’t let the tube walls get too hot. We’re very specific about the voltage and wattage ratings for a reason. If you try to cheat the system by pushing a lamp past its limit just to get a faster ramp-up, the quartz starts to degrade. It’s a shortcut that leads to a crash. Just make sure your power supply matches our specs, and the glass will hold up. Keeping it clean We’re obsessive about what goes into these lamps. You won’t find cheap adhesives or organic coatings here. Why? Because those things vaporize in a vacuum and settle right on your wafer surface. We also seal the ends with high-grade ceramics. No leaks, no surprises. The honest trade-off I’ll be straight with you: adding a containment sleeve does get in the way of the IR transmission a little bit. You might need to bump up the power a nudge or tweak the distance between the lamp and the substrate to get your thermal profile exactly where you want it. It’s a small price to pay. You lose a tiny bit of raw efficiency, but you gain the peace of mind knowing that a hardware failure won’t wipe out your entire production run.
