We built this portable fan heater around a 2500W halogen tube—powered by 400V and 300mm long. The payoff is simple:you get serious heat, fast, in a package that doesn’t eat up space. That 400V rating is a smart move. It keeps the current lower for the same wattage, so you get less voltage drop on longer runs and wiring that stays easy to manage. And the 300mm length? It’s the sweet spot. Long enough for a stable filament and steady airflow, but short enough to slip into tight bays and portable setups without fighting for room.
The Materials That Matter
The halogen element sits inside a quartz housing. It handles the high heat without blinking, and it stays optically clear so the heat is focused where you need it. Behind the filament, a reflective coating pushes infrared energy forward. That means more usable heat goes where you aim it, instead of getting wasted out the back. The R7s base keeps things straightforward—two pins, solid mechanical and electrical fit. No adapters. Just drop it in and get on with the job. Then the fan kicks in, pulling air across the hot zone. It strips heat off the tube and spreads it as convective warmth, so the temperature stays even across the target. No hot spots. No guesswork.
Where It Shines (and What to Keep in Mind)
This setup is for the moments when you need fast, targeted heat—without turning your whole shop into a sauna. Think spot drying, curing, pre-heating parts, or process heat that comes and goes. It’s portable because it’s compact, and because the 400V design keeps supply demands simpler than high-current alternatives. But here’s the part worth paying attention to: that high heat density needs proper airflow and heat rejection. If the fan path gets blocked or the surrounding airflow is weak, the tube runs hotter—and that shortens its life. So keep the intake clear, and match your duty cycle to how it’s built to run.
